Fairfield House

“ It's great to be able to get out and mix with people who are understanding and don't automatically think the worst of you."

Fairfield House is an informal social club for people who have had mental health problems. It provides a meeting place where people can come and receive support and advice from staff, and also give support and advice to each other. The staff provide support, advice and assistance with practical matters via the Outreach service.

In a world of continual change in statutory services, Fairfield has for many people become their only or main support – a safe and reassuring place within the community for all the members.

Fairfield has flexible opening hours, and provides low cost refreshments and meals throughout the day. A variety of outings, holidays and social events is organised by staff and volunteers and no two days are ever the same. Bingo, karaoke, disco and quiz nights are offered, along with barbeques, and sporting challenges in the form of pool, darts and table tennis competitions. Fairfield aims to keep its doors open throughout the year, and Christmas day can be shared with other members, staff and volunteers.

In addition to regular club days, there are support and special interest groups which meet throughout the year. Members also have access to the Internet through the club, and computer training is available for beginners.
