Pension Protection Fund Supports Mind in Croydon

Staff from the Croydon-based Pension Protection Fund (PPF) braved the wet and windy weather yesterday (Tuesday) to help Mind in Croydon bring its allotment up to scratch for the coming summer.

Digging up trees, painting a shed, planting, building compost heaps and shifting manure were the tasks set the 15-strong PPF team – and they attacked them with gusto.

PPF Chief Executive, Partha Dasgupta, also took the opportunity to present Mind in Croydon with a cheque for £1,000 which was raised at a fundraising race night held earlier in the month.

Partha said: “As a Croydon organisation, we believe it’s important to contribute something to the lives of Croydon people. Mind in Croydon are our chosen charity for the year so it was great that we could not only provide some much-needed funds but also make a more practical contribution.”

Chief Executive of Mind in Croydon, Richard Pacitti, added: “The allotment is an important resource for our members as it can give them a renewed sense of purpose and commitment. We were delighted that the PPF staff could help get it prepared so our members can enjoy working on the allotment during the summer months.”

The allotment is based in South Croydon, near Mind in Croydon’s resource centre in Purley Road.
