Human Library Event on 14th June 2012, Fairfield House, East Croydon.
Mind in Croydon and Hear Us are bringing books to life again by putting ‘Human Books’ on the shelf to borrow to find out how to maintain good mental health and emotional wellbeing.
This free event gives people a chance to find out more about mental health and how to improve their wellbeing. Visitors will have the chance to ‘borrow’ people from different backgrounds and experiences. Books available for ‘loan’ will include people who have experienced mental illness and people who work in the mental health sector.
Volunteers, who all share a significant personal experience, will act as books that visitors can loan from the library for up to 20 minutes and talk to about their lives. Part of the Time to Change anti stigma and discrimination campaign, the Human Library aims to tackle prejudice about mental illness.
We are looking for people to volunteer as books and as shelf monitors, Please let Dora know if you are interested.
