Information on mental health services in Croydon
Mind in Croydon ran a successful sailing project in partnership with the Rona Sailing Project www.ronasailingproject.com for several years but funding for this stopped a few years ago. Mind in Croydon are lucky in having a keen sailor amongst their staff who has kept the project going on a voluntary basis so although no longer a Mind in Croydon project is still run with the same guidelines.
To date we have had around 27 trips mainly with Croydon service users but a few from other local Mind’s in London and are looking to support Rona Sailing Project to have three voyages this year.
We are able to provide minibus transport from Croydon or meet people at the
marina near Southampton. Everyone has a full assessment on referral and are
fully briefed on what the trips entail (living on top of each other and all
aspects of sailing a 74ft yacht etc) and the benefits (it’s a brilliant
experience). The crew will always include someone with experience of supporting
mental health and anyone interested is welcome to contact us for more
Rona Sailing Project is a fully accredited Sail Training organisation.
