Thank you so much for all the help, support and kindness you have shown me. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Mind and have learnt so much as a trainee.

We thank all our volunteers for their valuable contribution to Mind in Croydon.  Please note that all our volunteers (including volunteer/trainees) are subject to versions of the following documents which will be amended to reflect the needs of our different projects.  Please note, the relationship between volunteers and Mind in Croydon is concerned with training/volunteering, not with employment.  Volunteers including trainee/volunteers are undertaking work and complying with instructions as a trainee/volunteer, not as an employee.  The underlying purpose of any agreement between yourself and Mind in Croydon is not to establish a relationship of an employer and employee but to enable you to acquire certain skills and experience (as a trainee) or to volunteer with the organisation.

Men's Swimming Volunteer

As part of our Get Set to Go programme, Mind in Croydon are looking for a male swimming volunteer to support individuals who have experienced mental health problems in group swimming sessions for males. (Please note: this is not for swimming lessons).

Sessions will take place once a week for around an hour on a weekly basis at a leisure centre in Croydon.This will involve supporting small groups to take part in the activity to enhance their overall wellbeing. Please note: The service, and therefore the role is only available during office hours (9-5, Monday to Friday). 

We are looking for individuals who are local to Croydon and have a good understanding of mental health and are: 

  • Confident swimmers 
  • Reliable
  • Empathetic
  • Understand the importance of Confidentiality and Professional Boundaries 

You’ll need to be able to establish good relationships with people from different backgrounds and have an understanding of how physical exercise can improve mental and physical wellbeing.

Volunteer Peer Navigators

As part of the Get Set to Go programme we are recruiting a team of volunteers who understand how sport and physical activity improves our mental and physical health. You’ll be able to support people with mental health problems so they can develop their own passion for sport.

You’ll need to be able to establish good relationships with people from different backgrounds and have some understanding of mental health.

We’ll support and train you as one of our volunteer Peer Navigators, which could be the first step of a new career in sport mentoring or peer support.

Counselling Placements 

We are currently recruiting for volunteer counsellors in the second year of Diploma or equivalent, qualified and looking for hours towards accreditation or simply wanting to volunteer with us. These vacancies are to see clients in the evening only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Supervision will be provided for an hour and a half per fortnight on another evening to the one they see clients, or in the daytime.

Volunteer Stop Smoking Advisors

Physical and mental wellbeing are intertwined, a healthy mind needs a healthy body and a healthy body needs a healthy mind. Active minds service is run by Mind in Croydon to support people with experience of mental health problems to get involved in physical activity and look after their physical and mental health. Support around stopping smoking is increasingly becoming an important part of the service.

Online Auction Volunteer Required

The opportunity we are looking to recruit a small team of volunteers to help run our eBay sales operation. This is an exciting project to get involved with and an opportunity to develop good grounding in business and marketing skills.

The role will involve:

  • Researching items on eBay - looking up similar items to gauge the auction starting price and the best categories to list the items in for maximum exposure.
  • Photographing items to be listed - buyers need to see clearly what they are bidding on (inc. markings, damage etc).
  • Estimating postage & packaging costs - prospective buyers will want to know the cost of postage and packing if they win the item.
  • We are also looking for one full-time or two part-time volunteers with a good understanding of the internet and e-commerce to help lead the eBay operation. You will be working alongside the shop manager to set up and coordinate a functional system for sorting and preparing stock that is to be sold online. As a team leader you will need to be clear about which items are ready to list, which are currently listed and which are ready to post to the buyer (winning bidder). 

We are also looking for volunteers with expertise in certain types of items to help identify valuable goods that can be sold online.

Times you can volunteer:
Monday - Saturday: Morning or Afternoon.

Minding Money Volunteers - Orchard House, South Croydon

Welfare Benefits new project, Minding Money, is looking for volunteers to help provide this service to clients.

We are looking for the following:

Volunteer Workshop Facilitator
The purpose of this role is to facilitate and deliver Minding Money budgeting workshops to a small group of mental health service users applying the Quaker Social Action, Made of Money training package to deliver the workshops.
Workshops are to be delivered twice a week (Monday’s and Thursday’s) 10.00am – 2.30pm.
