Can I self-refer?

No, you need to be referred by a SLaM clinician / GP.

 

Do I have to use the Recovery Space?

No, any referral would need your consent & agreement.

 

Can I bring someone with me?

You can bring someone with you if you are happy for them to sit in your session with you, as we may not always have room availability for them to sit outside.

 

Do I have to attend the Recovery Space in person?

No, we offer telephone support as well as face-to-face.

 

Can I come during the day?

We offer appointments from 10am, but these appointments are booked in advance.

 

How long can I access the Recovery Space?

You will be offered six individual sessions. During this time, you have full access to our group sessions, and can continue to access our groups for eight weeks following your last one-to-one session.

 

Can I just drop in?

Appointments are booked in advance. If you are in crisis, you can drop-in to the Croydon Health and Wellbeing Space from 10am-1pm.

 

What are our eligibility criteria?

  1. High risk: active suicide plans, imminent self-harm risk, or danger to others (refer to emergency/clinical services).
  2. Severe mental illness: acute psychosis, mania, or other conditions needing primary clinical care.
  3. Substance misuse in crisis: under influence of drugs/alcohol or in acute withdrawal, preventing engagement.
  4. Aggression/violence: threatening or disruptive behaviour jeopardising safety.
  5. Clinical needs: primary need for diagnosis, therapy, or medication adjustments; the service does not provide psychotherapy.
  6. Complex needs: cases requiring legal, forensic, or multidisciplinary intervention (e.g., housing or financial crises without mental health elements).
  7. Other services more suitable: redirect cases better served by specialised services, including counselling or practical support, for example for housing support, financial support.
  8. Non-voluntary participation: coerced referrals or clients lacking capacity for informed consent.
  9. Primary diagnosis of Autism, or Dementia: excludes those where these are the primary diagnoses unless accompanied by a mental health need.
