A change in Chair for Mind in Croydon

A message from our outgoing Chair, Jill Kyne

After a rewarding period as Chair of Mind in Croydon, I am stepping down from the role and am delighted to be handing over to Akthar Hussain.

It has been a real privilege to help lead an organisation that makes such an important difference to people’s lives across Croydon. I leave knowing that Mind in Croydon is in a strong position for the future.

A huge part of that confidence comes from the outstanding staff team, led by Emma Turner, whose commitment, professionalism and compassion are at the heart of everything the organisation achieves. I am equally grateful to our great Board of Trustees, whose dedication, expertise and support provide such a strong foundation for the charity.

I am delighted that Akthar is taking on the role of Chair and I wish him every success as he leads Mind in Croydon into its next chapter.

I leave with enormous pride in what has been achieved, gratitude to everyone I have had the pleasure of working alongside, and real optimism about the future of Mind in Croydon.

A message from our incoming Chair, Akthar Hussain

I am honoured to be taking on the role of Chair of Mind in Croydon and to build on the strong foundations established by Jill Kyne, our outgoing Chair, Emma Turner, our Chief Executive, the Board of Trustees and the wider team.

Mind in Croydon has a proud history of supporting local people and championing better mental health, and I have already been struck by the commitment, expertise and values of those involved in the organisation.

I am particularly looking forward to working closely with Emma, my fellow Trustees, our staff, volunteers, partners and the communities we serve as we shape the next phase of Mind in Croydon’s development.

At a time of significant change in mental health and increasing pressure on local services, organisation’s like Mind in Croydon have a vital role to play in supporting communities, developing strong partnerships and ensuring local voices are heard. I am excited about what we can achieve together and committed to ensuring that Mind in Croydon continues to be an influential, sustainable and trusted organisation, firmly focused on improving the lives of people across Croydon.

I would also like to thank Jill for her leadership and contribution to Mind in Croydon, and for the generous support she has given me during the handover. I look forward to building on that legacy as we begin the organisation’s next chapter.
