BRIT School student holds red carpet screening of films based around mental health

On Tuesday 15th July 2025, Joe Bernstein, a student of The BRIT School held a night of cinematic mental health awareness culminating in the premiere of ‘Puzzled’, a film written by his fellow Bridge student, Noah John.

The evening started with what partly inspired Noah and Joe to make this work happen, Selorm Adonu’s award-winning ‘Man To Man’: Dion, (Selorm Adonu), a young teen, gets beaten up at school. His father, (David Harewood), takes him to the boxing ring to teach him how to fight and defend himself.

After the viewing was a post-film Q&A where viewers heard from some of the Mind in Croydon service users who have been supported by the charity’s wonderful work. Some of our Social Networking/Hub staff were also in attendance.

The final act of the night included the premiere of ‘Puzzled’, a spoken word short film written by Noah John, directed by Joe Bernstein and shot by Y13 FMP student, Hari Coles. ‘Puzzled’ is a uniquely physical and poetic exploration of mental health entering the mind of Kamal as he has a discussion with his therapist.

All ticket proceeds and donations were donated to Mind in Croydon to support us in continuing to deliver our vital work.
